To consolidate the practice of indigenous peoples’ rights through cultural strengthening, the consolidation of local organizational processes, the effective political-administrative decentralization of indigenous territories, and transboundary cooperation.
Specific Objectives:
Governance and protection of indigenous rights:

To support community initiatives seeking to strengthen their cultural identity, as well as their traditional knowledge and management of the natural environment.

To accompany communities in their search for socially and ecologically viable alternatives which contribute to their wellbeing.

To cooperate with communities in sourcing the necessary information and means to boost their self-determination.

To advise indigenous communities and relevant government entities on the definition and implementation of programmes that enable the development of indigenous rights, taking into account the social, cultural and ecological characteristics of the region.
Conservation of biological and cultural diversity:

To cooperate with indigenous communities and the government in the conservation and management of Amazon natural resources.

To know and inform about the ecological, social and cultural situation of the Amazon region.

To promote conservation and governance strategies among protected areas and indigenous territories.

To monitor, with indigenous authorities and State entities, projects that directly affect indigenous communities and ecosystem conservation, and influence public policies.

To promote, with indigenous organizations and civil society the practice of indigenous rights and ecosystem conservation in the Northwest Amazon.
Others:

To carry out exchanges of indigenous experiences in socio-environmental themes with other communities in the country, in the Amazon Basin and in other continents.

To create platforms for dialogue with other public and private initiatives that affect the Amazon, to ensure respect for the indigenous people and the ecosystems.

To promote financial sustainability of the Colombian Amazon through conservation incentives and payment for environmental services.
