From the NorAmazónica Alliance, a civil society network that works hand in hand with indigenous peoples in the northern region of the Amazon River, we participated in the Conference on Water, the second convened by the United Nations in almost five decades, held in New York between March 22 and 24.
Convinced that the forests, rivers and cultures of the Amazon are connected and contribute to planetary well-being, we made a clear call at this Conference on the importance of the region for the regulation of the global water cycle, and the role of peoples indigenous peoples for the protection of the integrity of the Amazon, on which the flying rivers depend.
